The SPDR S&P Global Natural Resources ETF (GNR) is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Wednesday, with over 1.4 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 159,000. Shares of GNR were up about 0.9% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Wednesday were Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR), trading up about 1.9% with over 20.8 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Barrick Gold (ABX), up about 4.2% on volume of over 17.9 million shares. Halliburton (HAL) is the component faring the best Wednesday, up by about 5.5% on the day, while Valero Energy (VLO) is lagging other components of the SPDR S&P Global Natural Resources ETF, trading lower by about 1.7%.
